Made in Asheville, NC
My story

Hi, I’m Michelle

Michelle, maker of Auntie Chelle's, beside a bougainvillea

Fifteen years of nursing taught me a lot about the body. Getting sick taught me the rest.

After Lyme disease in 2019, I went looking for answers outside of what I’d been trained on. That search brought me to Asheville to study herbalism, and it changed how I think about ingredients — including the ones I’d been putting on my face without reading.

I couldn’t find a balm I trusted, so I made one. The suet comes from my butcher down the road, who gets it from a farm in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and I render it myself in small batches. The herbs come from a local Asheville co-op. I wanted something clean enough to hand to a friend, so I kept adjusting the recipe until it was. And then I began expanding, making the dry shampoo you see available. My home is a collection of low-toxin, herbal products, often things I have made myself, and I hope to bring the same to your home.
